The Wisconsin Man Mound

The Man Mound near Baraboo depicts a horned diety from the dimension of spirits…or maybe a Shaman wearing a horned headdress. It is the ONLY surviving anthropomorphic effigy mound in North America. There were once five and they were all in Wisconsin. Part of the town of Black Earth is built atop a massive 700ft by 330ft man mound. Fortunately, the Baraboo Man Mound is now a National Historic Landmark. The effigy mounds of 700 - 1200 AD and the conical and vaulted structures of previous eras continue to watch over us.
